Christmas was not about presents. My favourite time was when my parents went to sleep and I could walk into the lounge and see the lights on the tree. Even when we moved house we would always have the tree. I want to find it and get it out now.

This is the home I was born into and raised until I was 10. That’s a lilac tree in front and it’s in Long Beach, NY. I remember being asked by an adult, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I said I want to be a artist. A artist, not an artist. I always knew and I did a lot of drawing, coloring and painting when I was living in that house.

I got rollerskates for Christmas when I was 8 years old. It was my favourite time to skate around on the flat areas outside my home. It was 3-4 years before I grew out of them and there were holes in them by the end. I never got another pair after.

I used to play outside a lot. We had a jungle gym and a tree house too. That was built ten years later on the other side of this tree. I pushed my sister on the tire swing. I had so many memories outside.

I was in kindergarten and this teacher asked us to draw a child going to school. I accidentally drew two legs in one pant leg. My teacher took my drawing and told the whole class that this was bad observation. I never drew again after that.

When I was around 5 years old and I lost one of my teeth, I was pretty excited about the Ratón Pérez (the Columbian tooth fairy). Previously, I had already received a gift from him. That night, I heard some noises coming from the trash can and there was this little cute mouse that I thought was the Ratón Pérez. My parents took him away telling me that I couldn't keep him because other kids wouldn't receive their gifts. They were afraid the mouse would bite me but despite their fear, they led me to believe that that little mouse was the Ratón Pérez.

This is my first dog Tao. I had another dog too but he died. Tao is now ten years old.

This is my first dog. It was a mix between a boxer and a Thai breed. He was very aggressive so had to wear a muzzle. He was a very good football player and I was very happy playing with him. I had him for three years but then he got a disease in his stomach and died. He was white and had a pink nose.

I was five years old when I first saw this painting in my house. It was a man in yellow with a glowing head. I was curious and asked my dad, "Who is this man?" He told me it is Buddha. I wanted to learn about Buddha so I researched in many places. The painting is still in our house.
